Pyrography (or wood burning), often referred to as Flemish Art, was a popular decorative style common in the early 1900's. It is often associated with the Arts and Crafts movement because of its simplicity and artistic qualities. We are offering a desk cup, or pencil cup, that is decorated using pyrography. It has a holly leaf and berry design that winds around the sides. The background is done with a low-relief pyrographic texture pattern that adds subtle interest without dominating the piece. The cup measures 3 3/8 inches in diameter at the top, 2 7/8 inches in diameter at the bottom and is 3 ½ inches tall. The condition is good. However, there is a very thin wood shrinkage crack that runs across the bottom and slightly up the sides. The crack has not jeopardized the integrity of the cup in any way. The structure is still sound. The cup has not warped and the surface is clean and fresh. If you have an Arts and Crafts bungalow then you must have this box sitting on a desk or shelf to add a decorative touch. You will not be disappointed!
