We are offering a true survivor, a copy of the souvenir booklet titled “Sights and Scenes at the Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition” held in 1905 in Portland, Oregon. The booklet is published by Robert A. Reid and printed by Bushong and Co. It is copyrighted 1905 and originally sold for 25 cents. The covers measure 5 inches by 6 3/4 inches and there are 96 pages including 2 pages of text and 94 are photos. It is filled with photos of the various buildings, scenes, and exhibits to be seen at the exposition. The booklet is soft covered with a photo illustration and gold text on the front cover. The back cover is blank. The book is in really nice condition especially considering that it is a piece of ephemera that was never intended to last long. The binding is solid and all the pages are tight. There is the expected soiling on both covers from dirty hands and years of dust. The back cover is chipped at one corner and has a small 1/8 inch tear. The individual pages have a very slight yellowing from age with all the corners slightly rounded. Short of being in mint condition, this is a very nice copy of an item that is very difficult to obtain in this day. If you collect ephemera, or exposition and fair items, then this needs to be in your collection. If you are a lover of Lewis and Clark’s expedition, then what better way to feed your interest. Rarity and condition make this an important item for the avid collector to own.
