This looks a lot like it was designed by Bieffe Boby in the 1960s for artists and architects. It has the look of those cool tabourets designed by Joe Columbo, one of which resides in the Museum of Modern Art. It consists of two parts, a large base piece and a smaller top piece that can be removed if desired. In this sizable carousel, an architect could store tall tools such as rulers, protractors and triangular scales, as well as the shorter scissors, compasses, pens and pencils (many of them). An artist could store about a hundred tall and short brushes and still have room for a bunch of those great colored pencils. Heck, if you make jewelry or other crafts, this is an invaluable storage unit. Large and small, short and tall compartments accommodate most anything you can think of. It rotates very easily on its built-in lazy susan, even when it is full of pliers and other tools (we tried it to make sure). At 8 inches tall with a 11.25 inch diameter, it’s big. It is made from some type of unidentified plastic, possibly Lexan. It is near perfect condition. There are no chips, cracks or wear. It is a bit dirty though, but you can clean it – or maybe you like that vintage patina. Go ahead, you know you want it!
