We are offering a classic Navajo (or Dineh) weaving or rug done in the Manta style. Consisting of only two colors, red and black, it measures 17.5 inches by 11.75 inches. The primary design is 12 examples of the old woman cross set into alternating stripes of red and black. It is a finely woven piece done with tightly spun yard. The weave is evenly done and consistent. There is no nubby wool or loose weave here! The edges are straight and tight, and the tassels in the corners are all intact. It is soft and flexible. Be sure to look closely at the quality of the weave and the design. The piece is in outstanding condition. It is clean with no spots. It lies flat and smooth. It has most likely been stored over the years with no indication that it has ever been on display. The weaving is very attractive and took many hours to complete. It was done by a master weaver, is clearly a labor of love, and is a fine example of a Navajo weaving or rug. This high quality weaving would be terrific displayed hanging on a wall, or sitting on a table top. It is also small enough that it could be archivally framed. It will continue to draw comments of wonder and amazement as people ponder the difficulty of doing such fine work.
