This wonderful footed ceramic and metal tray comes from pre-World War II Germany in the 1920's. It measures 8.5 inches in diameter and has a total height from the tabletop of 1.5 inches. When the handle is swung up it adds an additional 4.5 inches to the height. It consists of a ceramic glazed tile in the center that has been decorated with an abstract floral bouquet. The design is bright and cheery. There is an inventory or design code number on the back that means nothing to us. Around the rim there is metal edging that is made of an unknown metal that has been chrome plated. The metal is still bright with hardly any oxidation and no bends or dings. The ceramic tray is in top-notch condition with no chips, cracks or breaks. There are several very subtle scratches in the surface of the glaze on the ceramic tile. The three ball feet are all present and firmly attached and the handle is still solid and works well. Overall, this is a decorative item that you would always feel comfortable using or displaying at any time. It would look great hanging on a wall but would also be a nice way to serve your cheese and crackers with a good glass of wine!
