Here is a nice survivor from the days before CAD when architectural drawings and drafting were all done by hand. This is a vintage Theo. Alteneder & Sons drafting inkwell. It has its original label stating that it was patented November 14, 1930 by Theo. Alteneder & Sons of Philadelphia PA. It is in wonderful used condition. It has the original ink bottle with no chips or cracks. There is an ink drip down the outside of the bottle which we have chosen not to clean off and there is dried ink on the inside. When the handle is pushed down, the lid lifts smoothly off of the inkwell. The piece measures 5 ½ inches long by 3 ½ inches high by 3 inches wide. The red and gold decal that states the patent is in excellent condition. The underside retains the original cork base with some ink stains. The body of the piece is quite heavy and is made from cast iron. It is going to stay in place on your desk! This is a nice quality item and fine collectible or gift for a draftsman or engineer.
