This hand woven regional Navajo rug is made with a pallet of natural colors of cream, brownish-black, brown, gray, and aniline dyed red. It is wonderfully sized to display on a table or cabinet measuring about 47 ½ inches by 20 inches. The design is unusual with two serrated diamonds filled with the letters M H or H M. (Perhaps you know somebody with those initials.) It is generally in good condition although there are some minor issues which include breaks in the edges and a bit of unraveling on one corner. It does not appear to have ever been cleaned. We do not think it needs to be cleaned, but that will be your decision. It is well woven, still strong, and the rug has a wonderful supple quality. Navajo runners are rare and a smaller runner such as this is quite unusual. This piece is begging to be displayed on a table or cabinet. We can not imagine that it was ever on the floor because of its smaller size. The highly graphic design with the strong red and definitive lettering makes a wonderful statement when hanging on a wall or over a railing. It would also be striking on a floor but it would a shame to subject such a fine survivor to that kind of abuse. There is no doubt that once you have this elegant piece of art in your home, that you will find a way to show it off to best advantage.
As a piece of art or a decorative element in an Arts and Crafts home, you can not go wrong with this beauty. If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to send email.
