This matching pair of three stick candelabras is an example of some of Goberg's highly desirable work. They date from around 1910. They each stand 10 1/4 inches tall and are 8 3/4 inches wide. The circular bases are 5 inches in diameter. While all Goberg candelabras are rare, the dangling hearts on the arms make these pieces special. If you are lucky enough to find a candelabra in this style, it is highly likely that the dangling hears will be missing. Each piece is heavy and is hand-crafted from hammered iron. The stems are both hammered textured rods that has been riveted to the bases. The condition overall is quite good for both pieces. All the metalwork is solid. Each candle cup is well attached with clinched rivets and with no dings or wavy edges. There is some residual melted wax in some of the cups along with several drips on the bases. Each piece retains the majority of the original varnish that was used to protect the ironwork from excess oxidation. There are a few spots where the varnish has been rubbed off. Each piece has a nice patina and minimal rust. On the bottom both pieces are stamped "Goberg". We have chosen to leave them both in original untouched condition with no cleaning or oxidation removal done. You will be absolutely thrilled to call this pair your own. It is unusual to find a matched set of candlesticks from Goberg not to mention in such nice condition. They look terrific on a Stickley table or sideboard as well as in a Gothic setting.

Here is your chance to pick up a wonderful piece of Goberg hand-wrought ironwork. Hugo Berger, working as Goberg, in Germany during the early 1900's was the epitome of the Jugendstil artist, the German equivalent of the Arts and Crafts movement that was so popular worldwide. Most of his work was sold throughout Europe with quite a few pieces being sold by Liberty’s of London. Very few of his pieces made it to the U.S. In recent years they have all become quite scarce.
