This is a pair of French Art Nouveau hammered pewter candlesticks. Each of them is inset with a set of three turquoise glass cabochons. Both of them are decorated as inverted tulip blossoms that have dimpled texturing applied to the surfaces. The top of the candle cups and the bases of each piece are hand fluted. The hand tooling marks are subtle but evident. Each piece stands slightly over 4 inches tall and is approximately 4 3/8 inches in diameter at the base. They are in excellent condition with both of them having a wonderful original pewter patina. They appear to have never been cleaned. Items of pewter with inset glass cabochons were made during the Art Nouveau period as a small industry in France. It is rare to run into a set of two candlesticks in this style both in such nice condition. They will look wonderful as display items on a sideboard or your dinner table.
