For this White Fox Creation we started with a pendant made by Joe Paul. Joe Paul is one of the most noted of all Navajo artists,in artisan community of Farmington, New Mexico. Joe is the grandson of legendary artist Joe Paul who was a silversmith in the 1970’s . Like many Navajo families, Joe’s grandfather not only passed down his name, but also passed down the art of being a silversmith. With the updated equipment of our era, Joe Paul is able to take the craft up to another level that his grandfather would be proud of.
This spectacular pendant is double sided and pivots on the bail so you do not even have to remove the necklace to go from the stone side to the detailed all silver side. The stone side is set with a beautiful piece of White Buffalo, which probably is my favorite stone, because the black and white goes with everything from denim to a little black evening dress. The stone has been set in a bezel that is expertly cut with geometric designs and arched notches.
The all sterling side is an extremely detail horse and southwestern plains scene complete with mountains, trees, scrub grass, rock and clouds.
To accent this heirloom piece we added 3 strands of 6 mm sterling Navajo pearls accented with a dash of shiny sterling saucer beads and black onyx beads.
The pendant is removable so you can ware your 3 strands of Navajo pearls by themselves or choose either side of the pendant giving you 3 necklaces in one.
