This stone is newer to Native American jewelry. In the 1970's- 80's when we had our shops it was mainly turquoise, coral, mother of pearl and jet. But by the 90's new stones started to become popular and now today I just love the verity.
This rare mineral is called gaspeite and has an apple green color with brown to black matrices. These stones have a swirling brown matrices. The pendant for this necklace was Native American made and features a pretty gaspeite stone set in a smooth sterling bezel and accented with sterling leaves, twist rope and curls. For the chain we used antiqued stamped sterling beads and spacers and accented them with gaspeite rondelle and barrel beads.
