These earrings exhibit the outstanding craftsmanship of the Zuni Weahkee family. The Weahkee family has been famous for generations for Zuni carved fetishes and I do not believe these earrings were made by Teddy or Leekya Weahkee who have their work in the Kennedy Museum of Arts. However their son Buddy Weahkee perfected his craft in Zuni inlay and these earrings could be his or one of his children. At any rate the Weahkee family have a long history of outstanding craftsmanship.
These earrings are a half hoop inlaid with turquoise, coral, jet or onyx and mother of pearl. They have a geometric pattern and are finished with sterling twist rope.
