These wonderful Hemis Dancing Kachina represents happiness of a successful harvest. They are part of a collection we acquired that was purchased back in the 1940's. The earrings are in wonderful shape and have intricately inlaid turquoise, coral, mother of pearl and jet.
The back of the earrings are signed TXX. There are several pieces in the collection with the XX marks on them, with different first initials. I am not sure if it represents a family or a shop mark; for during the 1940's-60's many Native Americans worked for trading post and would sign the piece with their initials and the shop mark. It may have also be, as I have said, a family mark.
