This White Fox Creation was made using natural white howlite and onyx for the chain portion.
Howlite is naturally white and often has a dark gray or black matrix. It can be mislabeled as white turquoise or buffalo turquoise but buffalo is calcite and Howlite is a borate mineral, which is mined in Canada and parts of the Northern U.S. Since howlite is porous it is easily dyed to imitate turquoise or coral but its natural state is white or a soft creamy color. Howlite does pair well with the white buffalo used in the pendent portion of the necklace.
The pendent was made by Navajo artist Sherwynn Williams. Sherwynn is part of a husband and wife time Juliana and Sherwynn. For this piece Shwewynn used 13 teardrop cut pieces of white buffalo and one long center cut stone. The stones are set in a saw tooth bezel and accented with sterling twist rope and sterling droplets around the outer edge.
When creating the chain we used twist rope sterling beads to match the rope in the pendent.
