We found this wonderful Mexican Cross at a flea market in Central Florida and although I had to pay more than I wanted to, I knew I had found a truly exceptional piece.
The cross gives quite a bit of information on the back. It has the delineated eagle in the center of the back which dates this piece between 1948-1955. There is a 3 in the center which tells us it was made in Taxco Mexico.
Centered between the Eagle marking and the next large marking, this piece is stamped Sterling.
Above the Sterling mark is: Taxco Mexico 925. Which tells us again where it was made and that it is 925 silver which is the same as sterling. The center has the artist mark JCB however I have not been able to identify who he or she was.
To this wonderful gothic looking cross we have added a full strand of oxidized sterling beads so that it retains its old world motif and accented the sterling with natural dark purple amethyst saucer beads to match the amethyst stone set in the center of the cross.
