This American Brilliant Decanter and Shot Glass set was made by J Hoare & Co some time around 1901 -1910. I say that because the decanter is watermarked on the bottom. It is very hard to see but you can make out the circle, the 1853 in the center of the mark, a C (for the beginning of Corning) and the J (for the beginning of J Hoare & Company. I have included a drawing of this hallmark and the company began using this hallmark it in 1901. I also tried to photo the watermark but it did not come out well, you really need the light shining through the decanter to see it.
The decanter is in Excellent Condition and stands 9 1/2" tall without the stopper and 12 1/2" with the stopper. The stopper is original and glows a brilliant yellow/green as do all of the pieces. It does have a shave off one side which is no noticeable unless you look for it.
3 of the shot glasses are in Excellent Condition and 1 has a good size chip in it. I normally would not list a piece with a chip like this but the glass displays so nicely with the set and there is room to have the chip ground down if you should choose to do so. Also shot glasses are Extremely rare to come by in American Brilliant!
Each shot glass stands 2 1/2" high and holds 2 1/2 ounces to the rim.
As always Double Boxed for safe travel.
