I found this adorable Sterling Bird Set at a swap meet last week. The woman I purchased them from said her husband used to collect unique hand crafted sterling pieces. He passed away recently and she is selling some of his collection. She told me he purchased this set years ago but did not know exactly how old it is, but I would guess they are from the 30's or 40's.
This set was made in Guatemala and is stamped on the back. The stamp is almost worn off but can still be read. The bird is a Quetzal and is the National bird of Guatemala. The birds have been hand cut out of a very thin piece of sterling and are very intricately stamped.
The set is in wonderful vintage condition.
