This switch key is from the Norfolk & Western Railway. It is a newer key, dating from after the N&W acquired the Wabash Railroad in a 1964 merger and made it their Wabash Division and before 1980, the year the Norfolk & Western joined the Southern Railway to form the Norfolk Southern Corporation.
This key is stamped N&W on one side of its bow, with a faint ADLAKE appearing on the other side. It has no markings relating to Wabash, but collectors will recognize the familiar bit cut as one having been continued from the Wabash itself.
Condition is very good, with the only issue being a spot of green tarnish (we do not clean our keys!!). The N&W stamping is legible. There is little or no use, so it may be New Old Stock, ordered by the railroad but never issued to anyone for actual use.
