This is a good, serviceable marked signal box lock from the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad, the "Burlington Route." It is maker marked RACO in cast raised letters.
It is stamped CB&Q around the front. It is not easy to find this type of lock with a railway marking on it.
The pin is hexagonal, six-sided with cut-outs across from each other (sorry, I do not know the term). It can be operated with a standard hex key or the special tool with "legs" that fit into the cut-outs.
CONDITION is excellent with surface scuffing and obvious use but NO cracks, splits or any kind of metal damage. It works 100% and would be a fine item to add to a collection.
The Chicago, Burlington & Quincy was a railroad that operated in the Midwestern United States. It was commonly referred to as the Burlington Route, the Burlington or simply as The Q . Existing from 1849 until 1970, it was a major transportation operation with extensive trackage in the states of Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and also in New Mexico and Texas through subsidiaries.
