This stunning figurine was made by Hagen-Renaker. It is a superb depiction of a Thoroughbred racehorse and jockey in full gallop, and would make a lovely gift.
Hagen-Renaker's model #3297, "Race Horse With Jockey," was sculpted by beloved artist Maureen Love and introduced in 1999. These were part of the Specialties line. This version depicts the rider in green silks. The horse is a dark bay, or black/bay in racing lingo, with a darkest brown body and black mane, tail and stockings.
Size is approximately 6-1/2 inches long and 4-1/2 inches tall.
Condition is PRISTINE. We could find NO cracks, chips, flakes or repairs. The detail in this figurine is stunning. The horse's head is sensitive and refined, true to the breed. The jockey, complete with a determined look on his face, is crouched up over his mount's neck, balancing on his knees just like real jockeys. Both his feet are totally separate from the horse body underneath.
The horse was molded with a hole through its mouth, so "reins" could be threaded through and "held" by the jockey, whose hand has a hole molded through it as well. The original reins are present. The jockey's left hand also was molded with a hole through it, to "hold" his whip.
