This is an attractive matching pair of bridle rosettes (also called bridle buttons). They have a brass backing with D-rings solidly in place, and a glass dome cover in which a Native American scene is embedded. These are not antiques: the embedded scenes are screen printed, not Victorian transfers. We would guess they date from the 1940s-1950s.
Size is approximately 1-3/4 inches across.
Condition is extremely nice: the brass has darkened into a deep golden color. The tall glass domes are crystal clear with no cracks or chips, held firmly on the metal backing.
Inside is a meadow scene with Native American families around two teepees. Please note these are mirror images: mounted on a bridle, the teepees will be headed forward on both sides.
These would be right at home on a horse or pony bridle, a great gift, perfect for a Western horse rider to dress up the headstall of their mount !
