This pepper shaker made by Anchor Hocking is an extremely nice display with crisp, sharp, medium blue enamel decoration on bright white Vitrock milkglass. It dates from the 1940s era and is complete with its original lid.
Condition is superb: The blue decoration is very strong and almost unworn. You must hold it closer than arm's length to see any flaws in the blue. The worst is slight loss on the bottom of the E between the two Ps.
The glass is perfect with no chips, cracks or repairs. It is beautifully clean inside. The few blackish marks on the screw top are caused by the tin lid.
The lid is original, its original blue finish can be seen on the side, but almost all is worn away. It screws on and off perfectly. The holes are crisp and sharp, but there is light denting across the top. There is no rust on this lid.
Size is approximately 4 inches by 4 inches, by 2-1/4 inches deep.
Our Gene Florence book "Anchor Hocking's Fire-King and More" shows and discusses several different range sets from this era. This pepper shaker would be a terrific addition to any vintage kitchenware collection focusing on that time period.
