This is an Anchor Hocking Vitrock pepper shaker, complete with its original lid. The pattern is "Blue Circle," in medium blue color enamel decoration with terrific deco style lettering. The tin lid is original.
SIZE is approximately 4 inches tall, 4 inches across and 2-1/4 inches thick.
This is in extremely nice condition with no chipping in the blue, and no fading or signs of use on the color. There are no cracks, chips or repairs in the glass. The threads of the screw top are perfect. The "black" around the screw top threads are discoloration from the lid, NOT glass damage.
The ONLY (tiny) fault we can find on the shaker is that there is a tiny (pen-point size) depression on the front at the 6-o'clock position, at the very bottom of the middle blue ring. This appears to be a mold flaw, and it shows as black.
The lid has most of its original color, with only some very light fading around the rim. There is ONE small dent in the lid top, otherwise it has not been crushed and pushed back out as so many are. The holes are sharp and clean. The worst fault is some light surface rust (it will not rust further), see our pictures, but it can be displayed so almost all does not show.
This shaker dates from about the 1940s and originally was part of a Range Set made by the Anchor Hocking Company. Our "Anchor Hocking Fire-King and More" book by Gene Florence shows and discusses a number of these sets which are very popular with vintage kitchenware collectors !
