In its original pretty bay finish, this terrific Hubley cast iron horse is early 1900s equine desk art. It could be used for any number of purposes - a paperweight, a reward to a child who's done well in school, a show trophy - your imagination is the limit. It is beautifully sculpted with correct body proportions, accurately depicting a well bred animal. The long, flowing mane and tail add to its sweet, inquisitive expression.
Closely resembling a larger door stop Hubley horse, this one stands approximately 5 inches tall on a 1/2 inch thick wooden base. The base is just over 6 inches long.
Condition is extremely nice, with NO damage other than minor paint chipping expected in this type of piece. The paint is original with great detail, shading to lighter on the muzzle and forefeet. The body is firmly mounted on the original base. The seams are extremely tight with carefully done filing to smooth any edges. The original bolt on the animal's left side holding the two sides together is obviously under the original finish and never been disturbed. Old green felt remains on the underside of the base.
