TWO ARE AVAILABLE - buy ONE for $15 or BOTH for $25 - Beautiful in pastel blue, a sweet young lady holds a basket. Dressed in a pinafore and sunbonnet, we understand she is a Dutch girl. She is impressed U.S.A. on the underside. We understand this dates from the 1930s - 1940s, among the earlier pieces that Shawnee Pottery produced.
Although it was made as a planter, this sweet piece could be used as a vase for fresh or dried flowers. Condition is especially nice with such an appealing design and color, and NO cracks, chips, flakes or repairs and extremely clean inside!
The blue glaze technique shows details of the figure readily, with glaze settling into depressions and thinner on high spots letting the creamy pottery color show through.
SIZE: Approximately 8 inches tall. The base measures approximately 4 inches long and 3 inches across.
The Shawnee Pottery Company was located in Zanesville, Ohio. It was best known for producing art pottery and operated from 1937 until 1961.
