A very pretty PAIR of demure Shawnee Pottery girls! Although the apparently were made as planters, how pretty they would be with tiny fresh flower bouquets spilling over the sides, or even for dried flowers.
SIZE: Approximately 8 inches tall. The base measures approximately 4 inches long and 3 inches across.
Condition is especially nice, with such an appealing design and color, and NO cracks, chips, flakes or repairs and extremely clean inside!
Beautiful in pastel blue, each of these sweet young ladies holds a basket. Dressed in a pinafore and sunbonnet, we understand she is a Dutch girl. She is impressed U.S.A. on the underside. We understand this dates from the 1930s - 1940s, among the earlier pieces that Shawnee Pottery produced.
The blue glaze technique adds to eye appeal, with thinner glaze on high spots letting the creamy color show through from the pottery beneath, adding depth and detail. So pretty !
