The FSH diamond logo maker mark is unusual on New York Central keys - but here is a great example!
This nice switch key is stamped NYCRR in serif Roman lettering on one side of its bow. On the other is a sharp and clear FSH Co. diamond logo, for the Fraim-Slaymaker company. This logo was used in the 1915-1930s era.
CONDITION is excellent with nicely worn barrel end and bit edges authenticating it. The stamping is crisp and stands out beautifully. The color is an attractive deepening brown with an appealing patina.
The New York Central Railroad began in 1914, when it emerged from the New York Central & Hudson River Railroad. It operated through New York state and into Ohio along the northeast corridor until 1968, when it was forced by the U. S. government to merge with the Pennsylvania Railroad, creating the Pennsylvania and New York Central Transportation Company (usually referred to as "Penn Central") , to which the New York New Haven & Hartford Railroad was added in 1969. The Penn central lasted until 1976.
