We confirmed with a long-time dairy bottle authority that this is not one of the fake babyface bottles plaguing collectors. This is a fine quart bottle from a well known New England farm, with red/orange pyro SUNSHINE DAIRY printed on both sides.
This bottle comes with its original cap, which is a silver metallic surface over a waxy under layer. It is printed SUNSHINE DAIRY Framingham MA in orange to match the pyro. It's difficult to read but it is there.
CONDITION is extremely nice with a very few light surface bumps but NO case wear. There are NO chips or flakes in the pyro enamel which is a striking bright reddish orange. The baby face is well defined. The glass is bright and shiny with no cloudiness or other problems. Absolutely no cracks, chips or flakes.
Around the bottom is cast ONE QUART LIQUID REG SEALED BFS
This dairy was established in 1927 and is still in business, located on Kendall Street in Framingham, Massachusetts.
We are not sure of the date this bottle was made, but our expert confirmed for us that it is "New Old Stock," purchased by the company but lack of case wear proves it was never used. One theory is that the baby face would have been used for non-homogenized milk (the cream would rise to the top), but a group of these bottles may have been set aside waiting for use when the dairy changed over to homogenized milk. The cap does say HOMOGENIZED on it -- so that may well be what happened.
*** PLEASE NOTE ! We photographed the bottle using foam filler beads to show detail -- these are NOT INCLUDED, we will be shipping the bottle empty.
