This is the only one of these unusual flat steel keys from the Delaware &Hudson Railroad that we have ever come across. It is eye catching at 3-3/4 inches long and a full 1/16 inch thick. It appears to be an older key with tall, narrow serif Roman letters stamped D&HRR on one side of its bow. On the other side is stamped ADLAKE, its maker.
CONDITION is very attractive: bright and shiny, with NO rust or discoloration.
We have no idea what type of lock it was made for. Likely it would have been some sort of cabinet or utility purpose, but never having encountered one before and being unable to find out information about it, we simply do not know.
A terrific find for any New York or New England railway lock and key collection!
