This adorable basket is a "Horizon of Hope" #15911, custom made in 1996 for the American Cancer Society by the well known Longaberger company. It is correctly stamped on the bottom, complete with the Society's logo, and the weaver/artist's signature. The pamphlet identifying the basket is also included.
Custom baskets made for special interest groups like this are missing from most Longaberger collections!
This basket comes complete with its original ruffled rose fabric liner in as-new condition; a plastic protective inner liner; and TWO small pamphlets. The wood is hardwood maple, woven by hand into an endearing keepsake.
SIZE: is just under 7 inches long by 5 inches wide by 2.25 inches to the top of the rim. From the table top to the highest point of the handle is 6.25 inches.
CONDITION: Such an appealing little basket! The color is darkening to a mellow chestnut. The weaving is tight and strong with no splitting. The tiny nail heads are fastened securely with no rust. The handle is bent perfectly. We could find no breaks or physical damage except for some very lightest stains on one short end (see our last picture).
