This is an old glass globe from a skater's lantern. It is clear glass that has aged with sun exposure to the most fragile, delicate tint of lavender - amethyst. It was difficult photographing to show the actual color.
The body of the globe has "panes" molded into it -- there are raised edges around panels. Being much thicker than the flat areas, the raised glass is more colorful and makes the globe appear to have purple stripes on it ! Which, of course, it does not.
At just over 4 inches tall this fits a standard size skater's lantern, the small type that people years ago used to carry to a frozen pond and leave on the shore with their shoes while they were on the ice skating for the evening.
Condition is excellent, with NO cracks and NO cloudiness in the glass. No "sick glass" syndrome. There are shallow scuffs and tiny flakes on both top and bottom rims, expected from use. The top rim is rough with edge chips, but they all disappear when the shade is inserted into a frame.
If you have a nice skater's lamp frame and need an appropriately old globe - here is a good one !
