This is a larger size Hagen-Renaker figurine. "Man O' War" is from their Famous Racehorses group. Hagen-Renaker made two versions of this horse, and this is the earlier one that was produced at their original factory in Monrovia, California, where they operated from 1946 until the early 1960s. The sculptor was Maureen Love, one of their most talented artists.
Living up to the real horse's pet name Big Red, our figurine is a rich, deep red shaded chestnut, with a white snip down his face and tri eyes. Man O' War was an American Thoroughbred born in 1917 and still widely considered one of the greatest racehorses of all time. During his career just after World War I, he won 20 of 21 races and $249,465 (equal to over $3 million today) in purses.
Condition is pristine -- absolutely perfect with no damage of any kind. The original Hagen Renaker label is still affixed firmly to his back.
