Grapefruit spoons are missing from most collections of railway dining car flatware. Here is a very nice one !
From the New York Central Railroad, this spoon has the unique pointed tip that identifies it as a grapefruit spoon. It was made by the International Silver Company. The pattern name is Century "B", the pattern chosen by the NYC for use aboard the dining cars of their famous 20th Century Limited name trains.
On the underside of the handle is a strong NY over C. Further down the stem is the maker mark INTERNATIONAL SILVER CO.
Condition is lovely with only light signs of use and no tarnish. There is no plate wear. There are no dents or edge nicks and no bends or twists. only the lightest overall tiny scratches.
