This is a great example of the "XLCR" trademarked padlocks made for the New York Central Railroad by the Corbin Cabinet Lock Company of New Britain, Connecticut. It is solid brass, with a wonderful color and patina. There are light signs of use but no abuse and it's a terrific display.
On the back are three patent marks : November 5 and December 24, 1907 and April 12, 1909. This individual lock is numbered S126 and could have served any number of versatile, utility purposes.
We do not have a key.
