This incredibly realistic china Rough Collie figurine was made by Royal Doulton. It is their number HN1059, made between 1931 and 1969. Designed by artist Frederick Daws, this piece was modeled this after Champion Ashstead Applause, a real dog. This figurine was made in England, and has Royal Doulton black marks stamped on the undersides of three paws.
SIZE is approximately 3 inches tall and 5 inches long.
This wonderful sculpture is breathtaking with intricately hand painted details. He stands out individually with a slender white snippet of a blaze on his forehead. Exquisite in a glorious coat with white trim, our Collie is the rich, deep mahogany sable color that is much less common in the breed today. The hand painting adds amazing depth to the coat: you can see in our pictures how the white ruff and face mask are set off by brushed in "hair."
The sculpture is beautifully created with not only correct body proportions, but the unique deep, pensive eyes, correct tulip ears and an obviously outgoing attitude, all of which are vital parts of Collie character.
PLEASE IGNORE THE LIGHT REFLECTIONS in our pictures ! -- the incredibly strong, shiny glaze made photography very difficult!
CONDITION is superb with NO cracks, chips, flakes or repairs, and no crazing. The glaze is strong and bright with crisp details and no color runs.
A fabulous find - for any Collie lover !
