Here she stands, a highbrow lady out for a stroll with her wolfhound in the park. The look... the attitude ... captured at its finest. This exquisite figurine is "Park Parade" sculpted by Royal Doulton artist Alan Maslonkowski. It is dated 1986, their HN3116 piece in the Reflections series. On the underside is the familiar Royal Doulton green hand-made and hand-painted in England mark with crown and lion.
At just under a very large 12 inches tall, it would be absolutely stunning anywhere !
Condition is PRISTINE - the only thing missing is the original box. Absolutely NO cracks, chips, crazing or repairs. The glaze is perfect with colors beautiful in pastel. The lady is wearing her original round hang tag held by gold thread, and original PARK PARADE sticker affixed to her skirt. Her facial details are painted brilliantly with exquisite realism.
The Borzoi dog is a wonderful impression, leaning into its mistress as the breed tends to do, aloof but alert in typical sighthound character. The color appears to depict what is called a wolf sable, white hairs with gray tipping. It is beautifully proportioned with a soft expression and delicate features.
THE ARTIST: Alan Maslonskowski started with Royal Doulton in 1968, when he was 16 years old. Incredibly talented, able to replicate the individual characteristics of people and animals, he rose quickly in the ranks. His first sculpture, entitled The Owl, was created in 1970 and later re-issued in 2007. Widely flexible, his sculptures included adults, children, animals and historical pieces. He is especially admired for the large pieces he created for the Royal Doulton's Prestige series. Sadly, he died unexpectedly in 2006 at the age of 54. Accordingly, the figurines he created are particularly sought after by collectors.
