This big, heavy, coppery colored key is from the Pennsylvania Railroad, specifically made for use in the Philadelphia Division of their Eastern Region.
It is just over 2-1/2 inches long, with a thick barrel made for the 1/4-inch pin of a steel switch lock. \
This key is stamped E2476P in serif style Roman letters. It escaped being stamped with the PRR marking, but there is no mistaking what it is because only Pennsylvania keys were marked this way.
A massive, sprawling railway covering a great deal of territory in the Northeast, the Pennsy was made up of dozens of Divisions within four regions or zones. Division keys, as they are called, are a specialty collecting area for some railfans. This nice one displays beautifully and would be a fine addition especially for a new collector, or a great trader.
