This adorable, tiny spoon from the Norfolk & Western Railway was made by International Silver. It is a demitasse spoon, that would be used with coordinating, tiny china cups and saucers to serve after dinner espresso, chocolate or another hot drink.
A beautiful, distinct N&W monogram is on the top of the handle. On the underside, the stem is stamped INTERNATIONAL SILVER CO.
The pattern name is "Cromwell." Size is approximately 4.25 inches long - a teaspoon in miniature.
"Silver at Your Service," the railroad dining car flatware book by Dominy & Morgenfruh, shows this pattern on page 52 and confirms the Norfolk & Western used it with their N&W top monogram.
CONDITION - Extremely nice, wonderfully bright and mirror shiny! The top mark monogram is strong and distinct. There is NO plating loss anywhere. There are some light surface marks from use, but nothing worse. There are NO bends or twists, it's beautifully balanced and so appealing.
Perfect to start a collection, or to add to an existing one.
