This is a really nice example of the scarce brown Boston Bull Terrier dog door stops that were made by the Hubley Company in the early 1900s. It is ALL ORIGINAL, very well made and in exceptionally good condition with minor flakes in the paint. The figure is terrific itself, with the little dog not only having correct body proportions but also emanating the sparkling, happy character of this mischievous, adorable breed.
At approximately 9 inches tall, this is the full-size door stop. It is quality cast iron with NO rust, NO cracks, chips, splits or breaks and NO repairs. The mold seams are tight with minimal filing -- fine craftsmanship work!
The color is shades of rich mahogany brown ranging from nearly black to warm chestnut. A white blaze and muzzle, white chest and four white stockings add attractive trim, just like a real Boston Terrier. A fine line of red defines the mouth.
There is no collar on this pup. Usually a "collar" is painted on, but our doggie does not have one.
IMPORTANT: See our picture with the green arrow: The original bolt/screw is firmly in place on the dog's left side, under the paint, helping to document authenticity. We have not touched it!
What a superb addition to any bulldog loving home ! and a fine addition to any grouping of doorstops.
