Our cast iron Scottie can be used in any number of ways, limited only by the imagination -- as a boot scraper, a door stop, a topper for a sign or just a decorative figure -- add a finished wooden base to it if you like (or not, it stands securely without one) -- no matter what, our Wee Dogge will oblige you!
Molded out of solid cast iron, the body is highly detailed on both sides with a deep coat including a beard, eyes and nose, and a perky tail! Aye, mon, what a dour character ! just like the real terrier dogs. A bit gruff, but lots of fun and playful.
We have been unable to find any similar pieces - clearly this is scarce - but with no maker mark, we estimating its age at 1940s-1950s.
SIZE: The actual dog figure is approximately .25 inch thick. The base is 12.5 inches long and 2.5 inches wide. There are two slots on each side to accommodate bolts that will hold it down. Height from table top to the tallest ear tip is just over 8 inches. WEIGHT is a full 7 pounds.
CONDITION: Superb -- There are NO breaks, dents or twists and NO metal damage. This has never been painted -- it is good, unpainted iron that can be conditioned and cared for the same as antique skillets. Some brownish rusty color shows in a few places, but this is surface only, and we do NOT clean or otherwise alter our metal items. (You can paint it if you wish to match your real life doggie pal!)
