This signal lock from the Western Maryland Railroad is one of the best we have seen, in superb condition. There is only light surface bumps and dings from use, and the casting is sharp and distinct.
It is solid brass and very heavy for its size. The body is 2 inches across, and measuring from the table to the top of the shackle, the lock is 3 inches tall.
On one side of the body is cast the WM railway logo, under the word SIGNAL molded into the lock. On the other side is cast YALE, its manufacturer, one of the best known and most respected lock manufacturers in the industry.
The lock is locked shut and we do not have a key. It takes a flat key. The number 26212, which would have been stamped on the original key at the factory, is stamped above the keyhole.
