More from Time's Treasures Railroad & Country
This is a very hard to find key from the New York, Ontario & Western Railway, a short line rail operation that operated between 1884 and 1957 in northern New Jersey, upstate New York and northeastern Pennsylvania.
It is approximately 3-1/2 inches long, with a solid barrel that is molded right into a thick, rounded bow.
This key is stamped NYO&WRR on one side of its bow. On the other side is stamped a number 6 and the maker name SARGENT which is molded into the bow.
Condition is extremely nice with a soft silvery color and a great feel in the hand. There is light wear evident on the bit and some finger polish on the stamping. With less than 300 miles of track, relics from the NYO&W are very difficult to find, and this key is a winner !
