Bright and clean and ready to hang! Our wonderful Cecil Aldin print is No. 1, "The Start" of his famous series of six watercolor paintings entitled "The Bluemarket Races" that he painted in 1901-1902. His unique signature is printed into the scene at bottom right.

Attractively framed in solid blond oak wood, with expensive double matting, this is a very nice medium size. We are not sure of its age. We believe it is a mid-20th century print, but know it is not an antique.

CONDITION: Superb~! Brilliant, bright colors are uniform with no fading. NO stains, spotting or water damage and NO rippling or waviness. The matting is professionally cut and perfect. The frame is lovely oak and tight at all four corners.

Cecil Charles Windsor Aldin (1870-1935, a listed artist) is one of our favorites! A British artist and illustrator, he was a passionate sportsman who loved horses and dogs. He was famous for his paintings of animals, sports and rural living, and remarkably developed an adoring public during his lifetime, which exists almost as strongly today. Aldin possessed the enviable talent of being able to depict each of his subjects as a different individual with a unique personality -- whether animal or human. Remarkably, he injected almost cartoon humor and sometimes a bit of satire into many of his works, while producing others as realistic as photographs.

DIMENSIONS:

Inner (dark color) mat opening: Approx. 10-1/2 inches x 15-1/2 inches;

Inside Frame : Approx. 15-1/2 inches x 19-1/2 inches

Outside Frame: Approx. 19 inches x 23 inches

The solid wood frame is approximately 3/4 inch thick.

Please note the documentation just above the print at upper left and right. These lines were too long to show in one photograph.

At upper left is printed: ENTERED ACCORDING TO ACT OF CONGRESS IN THE YEAR 1902,BY LAWRENCE & BULLEN, LTD., IN THE OFFICE OF LIBRARIAN OF CONGRESS AT WASHINGTON.

At upper right is printed: ENTERED AT STATIONER'S HALL - COPYRIGHT 1902 -- PUBLISHED BY LAWRENCE & BULLEN, LTD., 116 HENRIETTA STREET, COVENT GARDEN,, LONDON W.C.
