Here is a group of NINE brass buttons from the uniform of a New York Central Railroad conductor (or other higher rank employee such as a Station Agent).
There are FOUR larger coat size and FIVE smaller vest or cuff size buttons. All except two small ones were made by the SCOVILLE company of Waterbury, Connecticut. Two of the small ones were made by SUPERIOR -- both authentic makers of railway uniform buttons.
CONDITION is excellent. All have loop stud backs, and the loops are straight and solid. Some use shows on the front .
COLLECTOR NOTE: Brass railroad buttons were almost always reserved for a higher grade employee with management responsibility such as a conductor or station agent. "Silver" buttons are not silver, but rather almost always brass plated with silver color metal such as nickel.
