This small shovel is from the Erie Railroad, where it would have been used by train workers managing a coal stove in a caboose. It is solid cast iron, with an extremely good ERR casting on its handle. Farther up the handle is cast a number 1621 (probably a product identifier) and a maker mark.
This shovel is approximately 15 inches long, and it weighs about 3 pounds.
CONDITION is great with extremely attractive markings -- it displays very well. It has been used, but has not been abused. There are no cracks, no splits and no warping. There are no chips or gouges along the edges. There is some surface grunge in the shovel; we have not attempted to clean this.
