Here are five very nice button covers ("jackets") from the Boston & Maine Railroad, made to slip over standard buttons on employee uniforms. They are very attractive with an appealing patina and raised designs on dome tops. The B&M operated in the states of Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
Two buttons are brass -- which would have been reserved for conductors, station agents or other higher ranker employees. Three are silver color (nickel or nickel plated), used for lower rank occupations such as Trainman or Brakeman or an assistant.
All are 7/8 inch across. PLEASE LOOK AT OUR PHOTOS - the backs are cut away to allow them to slip over coat or vest buttons.
CONDITION is excellent with no cracks or splits and only light signs of use. There are no dents or bumps.
A terrific addition to any collection of transportation buttons, to keep or trade.
