Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad Cast Iron Caboose Shovel - image 1 of 9

This terrific little shovel is a veteran from a Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad caboose, where it would have been used by railroad workers to shovel coal into a small stove used for heating the car and cooking.

Size is about 14 inches long. It weighs about 3 pounds.

It is clearly marked C&O beside a production number of some sort. So far, we have never found a C&O caboose shovel that had any maker marking on it.

CONDITION is terrific: used but not abused, with a lot of character and an attractive coat of black paint. There are surface scuffs and dings from use, shallow pitting and bumps, but NO bends or twists, warps, splits or damage.

This would make a fine display on a train room wall, or beside a fireplace.
