In excellent condition with an eye-catching bright red rim band, this white enamelware basin would add spark to a vintage kitchenware collection. We estimate it dates from around the 1940s (it belonged to my husband's late mother). The finish is porcelain enamel fired on steel. Being a solid color, this is correctly enamelware, not graniteware.

We show it holding fresh fruit, but it would work beautifully in a powder room, holding fresh hand towels, other linens or even a soap collection.

SIZE: WIDTH is about 10-1/2 inches across the top, with a 5/8-inch flat rim edged in cherry red. HEIGHT: From rim edge to table top is about 3 inches. FLAT BOTTOM BASE: The flat part in the center of the base is about 5 inches across. THE HOLE IN THE RIM is about 1/4 inch across, meant for hanging it on a wall.

"Technically" this piece with its rounded, sloping sides is a wash basin, meant to hold water, but it doubles beautifully in the kitchen doing any job that a wide, shallow bowl would be used for.

CONDITION is extremely nice for its age but it does show light use. SEE OUR PICTURES PLEASE!! The hanger hole shows no use at all. There are only a very few small chips and ALL are on the back and cannot be seen from the top. There is one chipped area on the bottom rim, but all the rest are tiny flakes under the edge of the top rim.

IMPORTANT: Mother USED this bowl carefully, but as is so typical, the white bottom finish has dulled slightly and taken on just a slight yellowish tint along with what looks like very PALE gray "netting" on the inside bottom surface. These are NOT chips. We have NOT attempted to bleach them, or do anything to them. This is only on the inside bottom of the bowl.
