This Breyer Mountain Goat has a matte, alabaster finish. His white body has very light shading of the palest tan (NOT age yellowing). His hooves are gray, and his shaded horns are gray with brownish tint. A "Traditional" size, he is approximately 9 inches long and 6-1/2 inches tall.
Because his horns are not black, we can say this fellow is Model 397, only made between 1998 and 2005.
CONDITION is fabulous with no broken or missing parts. He has no scuff marks or rubs on his body. His legs are straight, not warped, and he stands firmly on his own. IF he was ever played with, it was VERY minimally and VERY gently.
The ONLY fault we can find is that there are the smallest spots of color loss on the very tips of his horns.
Our Mountain Goat is marked inside his upper right hind leg with an old BREYER MOLDING CO. mark. It is very shallow marking, and is difficult to make out, but it is there.
Breyer horse models are highly sought after, but the wildlife models are significantly harder to find. This Mountain Goat would be a terrific gift to a Great Northern Railroad collector, as the GN featured a mountain goat in many advertising pieces including a scarce dinnerware pattern called Glory of the West.
