Here is a very nice ash tray from the Great Northern Railroad. The pattern name is Glory of the West. Different pieces depicted scenes passengers might see out the train windows traveling through Glacier National Park. The ash tray shows a mountain goat standing on a rocky crag amid pine trees.
Nicely bottom marked with the full GREAT NORTHERN RAILROAD beneath the Syracuse China maker mark. Z-12 is a date code meaning December, 1945.
CONDITION is lovely - near mint, with no signs of being used. There are no chips, cracks, flakes or repairs and no stains.
SIZE: The GOTW ash tray was made in only one size, approximately 4 inches across, with four cigarette rests.
This is a terrific example of a cross-collectible, since both railway and tobacciana collectors will be interested.
